Keeping a disciplined sketchbook study on the side to help facilitate free thinking content and form, helps to flush out larger projects by either having nothing to do with them, or being directly related to them. I give a great deal of importance to the physicality of things in my work, so my sketch books are good practice to keep me in “touch” with texture. Establishing a live area in my sketch books provide a framework to sharpen my sense of composition.
Using colored pens and pencils, precise and loose collage, intentional declarations and accidental embraces, all combine to make this daily practice a very important one for game day.
